George Croxford Headteacher at RWBA / Accounting Officer

Born in Liverpool in 1961 an ardent Evertonian, rugby loving, sports mad boy there was only one realistic choice of career and I became a PE teacher in 1985.  I have had the privilege of teaching for over 30 years; the last 16 years as a Senior Leader.

My first teaching post was in the Towers School in Ashford, Kent where I gained fairly rapid promotion in 6 years before leaving to move to Wyvern Community School in Weston-Super-Mare. I stayed at Wyvern for 12 years, leaving only for promotion to become Deputy Headteacher at Hartcliffe Engineering Community College. During that time my two beautiful daughters were born one in 1995 and the other in 1999.

I stepped up to be Headteacher at Hartcliffe after 2 years. One adviser described the School in early 2006 as “special measures with knobs on.” We worked incredibly hard and raised standards, expectations, aspirations and importantly results! I started at RWBA in January 2010 and have loved every second of my time here. It’s a truly inspirational school full of wonderful staff and amazing students. We have achieved two ‘Outstanding in all categories’ Ofsteds in November 2010 and 2013.
