My Experiences as an covid NQT
My Experiences As A COVID-NQT!
by Nicole Stokes
It’s hard to find the words to describe how my NQT year is going, to be honest! I don’t think anyone could have guessed that it was going to go this way. But despite all the uncertainty and chaos, I’m really enjoying the chance to teach my own classes, my own lessons, in my own classroom (when they’re open!)
If I had to give one piece of advice to future NQTs, I would say this: you’ve got to go with the flow. I hate change and uncertainty, but if this year has taught me nothing else, it’s taught me that you HAVE to go with the flow. Sometimes things are just out of your control, and that’s okay. It’s hard to accept that not everything will be perfect and go the way you want, but it’s a part of the job, and it’s part of becoming a successful teacher. I have no idea how the rest of my NQT year is going to look, but I’m looking forward to the challenge, and I’m looking forward to seeing my students learn and progress.
