North Wiltshire SCITT offers Initial Teacher Training in Wiltshire, Swindon and the surrounding areas. We offer one-academic year, full time teacher training courses in both Primary (5-11 years) and Secondary (11-16 and 14-19) Teacher Training.

We believe the best place to train teachers effectively in the highly complex art of teaching is in schools.  The close links we have with our partnership schools provide trainees with a broad spectrum of experiences. Trainees meet centrally for professional and subject specific training sessions.  This enables them to share good practice and discuss their experiences in their different settings.

By studying with us, you will work towards achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), recommended by North Wiltshire SCITT, and the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at level 7 (with 60 Master’s credits) accredited by Bath Spa University.

Changes at SCITT

As part of a series of national changes to Initial Teacher Training, the North Wiltshire SCITT will not be operating as a single accredited organisation beyond August 2024.

Much of the existing network however will be joining a wider partnership operating across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire:
